The Office of Community-Based Learning at Washington and Lee strives to create mutually beneficial and reciprocal relationships with community-based organizations. To this end, they have created the Community-Based Learning Agreement (CLA), a living document intended to facilitate mutual understanding in a collaboration between students, community-based organizations, and faculty members. Learn how W&L utilizes this document to outline the scope of a collaboration and the responsibilities of each party, track progress, mitigate issues, and develop strong communication. The strategies used with this document ultimately ensure all voices are heard within a collaboration and cement reciprocity. This presentation is intended to inspire and inform participants and support the potential replication and strategic use of such a document.
