How can community-based organizations, governmental agencies, and academic institutions collaborate to address the needs of a rapidly expanding older adult population? In this session, we will explore examples of partnerships between various stakeholders in eldercare and how research and service projects conducted by university undergraduate students (through senior-level Capstone courses, in collaboration with said stakeholders) can promote a more age-friendly and age-inclusive community. This session provides a case study on how leveraging community expertise and experience, along with academic knowledge, can lead to sustainable programs and solutions to combat ageism and address the diverse needs of aging adults. Attendees will gain insight on characteristics of successful and unsuccessful partnerships and will be provided templates for creating age-friendly Capstone coursework.
