Description
College and university students are increasingly unable to address their basic needs, such as housing and food, due to the rising cost of higher education. Basic needs insecurities affect student wellbeing, performance, and graduation, but fully addressing the issue is beyond the capacity of many institutions working alone. This session provides a set of best practices and examples on successfully creating and sustaining basic needs partnerships with nonprofits and government agencies. The practices and examples are drawn from a national effort that established a new set of basic needs standards, as well as a literature review and specific models from a forthcoming journal article.
