This session will provide guidance on developing and sustaining community-engaged research partnerships between universities and state agencies. Such partnerships can help state governments engage in research that would otherwise be beyond their capacity or impacted by political concerns, while providing universities a path to major funding and an opportunity for faculty research to directly inform public policy responses. Tips and lessons learned will focus on relationship building, contracts, research design, and dissemination. A multi-year partnership on evictions, housing insecurity, and homelessness research between Portland State University's Homelessness Research and Action Collaborative and Oregon Housing and Community Services serves as the example.
