Harvard Radcliffe Institute’s Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) engages promising high school and college students to learn from those on the forefront of social change, historically and today, as they develop the skills and confidence to become leaders in their own communities. Session participants will learn about the campus-community partnership we have built across four high schools, a team at Harvard Radcliffe Institute, and the Schlesinger Library to bring archival collections focused on gender and society into our curriculum. High school students and their undergraduate mentors use original primary sources from the papers of leaders and activist groups to connect the past to the present. Students finish the program with an action plan focused on social change in their own communities.
