Using the framework articulated by the Community-Research Collaborative, we developed teaching cases illustrating the Six Guiding Principles for equitable, ethical, and reciprocal community based research. As one of the TRUCEN (The Research University Civic Engagement Network) sustained conversations groups, we will review and discuss each case in small groups for applied learning on power dynamics, community voice, and sustainable social change. Case topics include being viewed as a trustworthy institution; sharing and disseminating data; seeking institutional support and long-term funding, amongst others. This workshop is designed for those who engage in CBR such as faculty, staff, students and community leaders. But anyone interested in learning more about CBR can stand to benefit.
