Partnerships for Climate Justice in the Bay Area (PCJ in the Bay) is a place-based initiative that facilitates collaboration among Stanford University students and local community-based organizations to develop equitable climate change solutions. Among the initiative’s goals is to enhance climate resilience efforts in local marginalized communities, as well as to boost student learning, self-efficacy, and emotional resilience to climate disruption. Through interviews and surveys (N = 46), including a novel climate emotions scale, we evaluated the initiative’s impact on students (knowledge, skills, attitudes, emotions, and behavior intentions) and community partners (organizational capacity, access to resources and networks). In this session, we will share findings from our evaluation study and prompt discussion about student climate emotions and community partnerships.
