Description

Environmental exposures vary by community, and the inequitable distribution of negative exposures contributes to gross health injustices. Academic institutions can play an integral role in addressing this wicked societal problem by partnering with local communities to share knowledge while also investing in the unique knowledge and capacity that exists in the affected communities. In this session we will discuss a novel approach to community engagement that utilizes education and community grants to enhance community capacity to address environmental injustices and sustain community change. We will discuss how others could replicate a similar program in their institutions.
