Have you ever been told that CBPR shouldn’t be done in classroom or coursework settings? Have you felt constraints on collecting or using original data to guide service-learning projects in courses? Are you questioning how social science and health fields utilize “evidence-based” or “best practice” language when you don’t see the data or evidence behind those claims? This workshop session will provide guided, dedicated time for you to develop a map to utilize CBPR with students in your courses and will unpack ways to ethically collect and utilize local, partner-driven data sets to support community action and enhance decision-making. Please bring a rough outline of a project idea, course description, or proposal from a community partner to this workshop so we can put pen to paper and get you started utilizing CBPR in your classroom.
