Description

Experiential Learning (EL) draws out the central role that experience has in the learning process and argues that it is as important as cognition and memorization. Through Bard College and the Open Society University Network (OSUN), comprising 40+ universities and research centers globally, we have developed and co-created innovative ways to train faculty on experiential learning course design, collaborate on courses that are taught across campuses, and incorporate community partners both in the curricular and co-curricular student experiences. Through this workshop, we will examine how EL works in tandem with community engagement while offering the opportunity for faculty, community engagement professionals and community partners to practice collaborative program and course design to bridge the gap and enhance student learning.
