Description

College for Social Innovation (CFSI) helps colleges become catalysts for civic engagement through high-impact and fully-credited experiential learning. In partnership with UMASS Dartmouth and 15 other colleges, CFSI enrolls mostly underrepresented students for an immersive semester centered on a 400-hour mentored internship with a nonprofit or social mission business. Students receive a full semester of academic credit and build purpose, workforce skills, and nurture their potential for civic leadership. Session participants will learn from alumna, Zoi Burns, and from Assistant Vice Chancellor for Civic Engagement for UMASS Dartmouth, Mathew H. Roy, along with CFSI Founder Eric Schwarz. Topics addressed will include measuring the impact of experiential education and equalizing access for underrepresented students.
