Seattle University is reimagining and revising its curriculum. The new strategic plan calls for every student to participate in a community-engaged learning course. While community-engaged learning courses are already offered, those courses are solely dependent on faculty initiative. This has led to unevenness in students' experiences and inconsistency with community partners. This session invites participants to engage in a dialogue about the processes and strategies enacted to gather information, include multiple voices, and facilitate organizational change to recommend a community-engaged learning requirement. Facilitators will share lessons learned from nearly two years of planning, and participants will discuss and share practical implications that they can bring to their department, program, or institution.
