Location Name

Anti-racist community and civic engagement teaching, research, and service
Session Type
Knowledge-to-Action Workshop
Description

The importance of anti-racist principles for community engagement is non-negotiable. The evidence of how universities implement or live those principles, however, is unclear. The purpose of this session is to present research and provide a critical lens of the burgeoning focus on anti-racist principles in community engagement. We will continue the discussion about bridging the gap between intention and action in our work through an analysis of university civic action plans and other publicly available artifacts. We will develop and propose a reflective tool for connecting the theoretical and philosophical underpinnings of anti-racist engagement with practical applications across teaching, research, service, and outreach/partnerships.
