Join students and staff of Pacific University’s McCall Center for Civic Engagement as they discuss their experience supporting an on-campus food bank, 100% free store, and sizeable donation program. We will come together in conversation about moving from a “charitable giving” mindset to an integrated approach where both students and community members engage with and benefit from resource-sharing structures, and how we can reframe programs to emphasize a cyclical nature, e.g., where a sustainable move-out one year feeds a more sustainable move-in the next. Attendees will have an opportunity to share best practices for campus basic needs programs and leave with a deeper connection to the pressing social and environmental imperative for campuses to reframe their thinking about “waste.”
