As service-learning and community engagement (SLCE) expands across all areas of higher education, there is both a need and an opportunity to ensure the adequate preparation of community-engaged scholars and practitioners through expanded and accessible graduate-level programs. This Community Network Session will review the range of existing formal and informal training opportunities for graduate students and discuss preliminary results from a survey of graduate students. We will invite attendees to participate in a nascent collaborative research project aimed at documenting graduate students’ needs and desires re: SLCE professional development with the goal of expanding access to training opportunities in graduate school and promoting engagement across a wide range of professions.
