The Shelter Crew program at the University of St. Thomas is a housing justice-focused program that encourages participants to think critically about housing insecurity and homelessness in the Twin Cities community. Program participants volunteer at Catholic Charities and are encouraged to engage in further education and advocacy. Originally designed as a co-curricular program within the student volunteer center, Shelter Crew has grown into a program that brings together co-curricular and curricular spaces through purposeful partnerships. This session will focus on how Shelter Crew works with courses and brings students together in and outside of the classroom. Attendees will be encouraged to reflect on programs at their own institutions that could bridge the gap between co-curricular and curricular spaces.
