The Community-Engaged Data & Evaluation Collaborative (CEDEC) is a new initiative leveraging Brown University’s resources to address data, evaluation, and research priorities identified by nonprofit and public agencies. After a brief description of how CEDEC was born out of local community partner interest, how it seeks to coordinate engagement across academic units, and what lessons have been learned to date, discussion will focus on the issues of greatest interest to session participants. Potential topics include organizing across silos, scoping projects with community partners, supporting various types of data and evaluation projects, preparing students and faculty to engage effectively, recognizing and enhancing partners' capacity, and using participatory methods in data and evaluation. We will capture key resources, models, insights, and questions in a shared document.
