Chief Engagement Officer (CEO) roles, or community engagement positions that are also part of the institution’s senior leadership team, are becoming more prevalent in higher education. Some carry multiple complimentary areas of practice, such as community engagement and diversity, equity, and inclusion; others are singularly focused on community engagement. This session will explore a range of CEO job descriptions, share insight from two CEOs on their career paths, enable participants to consider the professional development plans they would want to implement in order to advance toward a CEO role, and present information about the executive search and preparation process.
