Description

Community Colleges play an important role in developing thriving communities. They serve the most diverse student bodies, many of whom are low-income and first-generation, and who face a range of unique challenges. These include part-time and full-time employment and obligations like children and families. Community Colleges are closing the gap in civic participation, not just by educating their students about democracy, but through providing accessible ways to engage in it. In this session, you’ll learn how three Colorado Community Colleges, Pikes Peak State College, Colorado Mountain College, and Arapahoe Community College, serving over 46,000 students, integrated the Unify Challenge College Bowl into their classrooms and campus communities for the first time in Fall 2023, and again in Spring 2024.
