Description

In the first half of the twentieth century, racial covenants were a tool used to claim neighborhoods as white spaces by adding language to housing deeds to prohibit people of color from buying or even occupying a home. Join us to learn about how a private college, St. Catherine University (St. Paul), partnered with Mapping Prejudice (University of Minnesota) to bring racial covenant mapping and research to Ramsey County and collaborate with neighborhood groups and nonprofit partners to support their anti-racism strategies and efforts in the broader community. Hear how we grew the partnership to include collaborative, interdisciplinary research and curricular community-engaged learning. We will also share the developing collaborations at universities across the region and the potential for more.
