Jessie is a Senior Manager (ICT-Enabled Learning) in the School of Health Sciences (HS) at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Jessie is an Optometrist by profession with an interest in education-related research, optometry clinical studies and service-learning. She is also involved in community service with the objective of raising awareness of eyecare and eliminating avoidable blindness. She has been in the educational service for 10 years and has taught in modules related to Optometry, covering topics such as low vision, ocular diseases, and ocular pharmacology. Jessie’s efforts in teaching and learning innovation brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic saw her leading a team to clinch the Special Home-Based Learning Academic Awards for Teaching & Learning Innovation (Commendation Level) in 2021 for her project entitled “Home-based Learning: Bring e-Assessments Back Home”. She was also part of the teams that received the Excellence Award for “HS AI Marking the Grade” and the Commendation Award for “VR180 Dementia”. Jessie is also the Principal Investigator for an e-Service-Learning research entitled “Investigating the Design and Implementation of Electronic Service-Learning to Facilitate Academic Learning, Civic Learning and Personal Growth and/or Professional Development of Polytechnic Students” which was awarded the MOE-TRF Grant in 2021. Jessie’s professional interests lie in ICT-related learning and Service-Learning related research.
