The Engaged Scholars Initiative (ESI) is designed to develop a diverse group of early-career faculty and staff who can strengthen their own critical community-engaged scholarship and lead equity-focused change within their institution and communities. After successful, yet disrupted, pilot cohorts using a regional model in 2019-2020, Campus Compact was determined to continue to offer this program in a virtually. In partnership with Swarthmore College’s Lang Center for Civic and Social Responsibility, twenty-two scholar-practitioners met virtually over the course of a year and ended with a hybrid final retreat with 10 scholars joining together in person and the rest joining via Zoom. Come hear from Campus Compact and their Swarthmore partners share their reflections of the experience and talk about the future of the program.
