The purpose of this session is to provide a model of an innovative program started at Saint Louis University that engages students in policy and social change work. Students work together in small groups to learn about policy and meet with legislators. The program walks through staff roles, student leadership roles, and best practices learned over the years, including ways in which equity is included, and how it is sometimes too easily overlooked. Other policy and social change activities will be shared as well, but the deep dive model will be through Policy Pods. Participants will walk away with a new way to engage students in social change work as well as common mistakes to avoid.
