Liora Petter-Lipstein (she/her) is a senior at the University of Maryland studying Public Policy. Her interest area includes strengthening democracy and promoting civic engagement. She has worked with the Civic Innovation Center and the Maryland Democracy Initiative to foster campus discussions around civic engagement and the University’s responsibility to advance civic spaces and opportunities. She has engaged the greater campus community by moderating a town hall meeting with local city council candidates, working as an election judge for the Maryland 2024 Primary Elections, talking to engineering students to understand their attitudes towards voting, advising on an interactive voter education installation, and appearing on CBS and a local NPR affiliate to talk about her experiences and encourage other students to become involved in election work. Liora has also developed a voter engagement strategy with Maryland Hillel to encourage students to make a plan to vote in the 2024 election and increase student civic participation on campus.
